Remembering a local diva with a Jarboro-worthy lineup!

 

This year’s Caterina Jarboro Memorial Recital featured artist is LaToya Lain, who just made her Met debut in the cast of Porgy and Bess. She has sung P&B roles – along with numerous others – in Europe, as well as teaching voice at UNC-Chapel Hill. We’re lucky to host her!

Opera Wilmington and OLLI: together at Live in HD!

 

Osher Lifelong Learning Center (OLLI) and Opera Wilmington are joining forces to screen three delayed Live in HD Metropolitan Opera broadcasts at Beckwith Recital Hall in upcoming months. These special events are open to the general public: you do not need to be an OLLI member to attend!

Beckwith is located in UNCW’s Cultural Arts Building, with adjacent parking.

Light refreshments will be available in the Cultural Arts lobby during intermission, courtesy of OLLI.

The schedule:

CARMEN – Bizet
Sunday, Feb. 25, 1- 4:30 p.m.

ROMEO ET JULIETTE  – Gounod
Sunday, April 14, 1-5 p.m.

LA RONDINE – Puccini
Sunday, May 5, 1-4 p.m.

Each of these screenings will be preceded by a talk by our favorite opera historian, Dr. Helena Spencer. Tickets for the screening of Carmen are available here.
